For Hosts
Pricing, commission and VAT
How prices, DeskMatch commission and VAT fit together — and what you're responsible for as a Host. This is general guidance, not tax advice.
You enter the final price the Desk Hero pays
Every price you set on DeskMatch is the total the Desk Hero pays — per day, per week or per month. There are no add-ons or surprises at checkout.
Enter the total price the Desk Hero will pay, including any VAT you are required to charge.
Your price must include any VAT you are required to charge
If your organisation is VAT registered and the supply is standard-rated, the price you enter is treated as VAT-inclusive. Desk Heroes never see "+ VAT" — the listed price is the full amount they pay.
The VAT treatment of desks, offices and workspace services can depend on the nature of the access and services supplied. DeskMatch cannot determine this for you.
DeskMatch commission is a separate service supplied to you
DeskMatch charges a 20% commission on each completed booking, calculated on the price excluding VAT charged by the Host. VAT may apply to the DeskMatch commission.
The commission (plus any VAT on it) is deducted from each booking before your payout. It is a service DeskMatch supplies to you, the Host — it is not charged to the Desk Hero.
VAT may apply to the DeskMatch commission
Where VAT applies to DeskMatch's commission, it is added to the commission amount and shown in your settlement estimate. If you are VAT registered you may be able to recover it — ask your accountant.
You remain responsible for your own VAT
DeskMatch cannot determine the correct VAT treatment of your desks, offices or workspace services. You are responsible for determining and accounting for the correct VAT treatment of each offering, and for declaring any output VAT included in your prices to HMRC.
Final settlement may vary because of refunds, payment processing fees, disputes, adjustments and any Host-specific commercial terms.
When uncertain, get professional advice
If you are not sure whether your organisation should be VAT registered, or how a particular offering should be treated, choose "Unsure" on the form and speak to an accountant or tax adviser. Your listing is saved as a draft and our team will review the position with you before paid bookings open.
